This work is a series of cast glass decorative picture frames depicting body parts; some are in a negative form while others are in a positive form, some record a dream sandblasted on the back of the piece. The work is entitled ‘reminiscence’ and is a collection of memories of life as well as of the legacy of life, transferred trough a skill and technique thousands of years old. The juxtaposition of old traditional frames and the inclusion of elements that convey contemporary messages challenge the concept of decoration. These frames encapsulate and freeze time, preserve and activate memory in the viewers’ mind. All of which lead to contemplation; how does one preserve and record the essence of life, how does one ‘frame’ one’s own existence?
